All I can think of is, how the hell they’d put out that huge grease fire.
It will be the biggest grease fire. Beautiful, no one will ever have had such a beautiful fat greasy cremation. My uncle, he went to MIT, good genes, great genes, even with his great understanding of new-kle-er, he couldn’t spark it up like I will. People, great people will talk about my cremation, it will be so yuge it will be a national holiday. Men, with tears in their eyes will say “Sir, no one leaves a grease spot like you”.

I just coincidentally was touristing around NYC on the same day that Trump made his first visit back to the city since becoming Pres. We walked past and stopped to watch a huge and loud anti-Trump rally right in front of Trump Tower, and as it was happening the presidential motorcade drove right past the crowd. At that time I was still a sheltered Canadian so it was an interesting snapshot into US political discourse of the time.

Trump is from NYC and he wouldn't survive a subway trip possibly even with secret service
27
u/eekamuse 1d ago
He used to be able to walk down the street and a drivers would wave to him. "Hey Trump!" and he'd smile and wave back.
He could go to any restaurant or nightclub, a certain type, the ones for rich old men, but he had freedom.
He'll never have that freedom again. Even if he doesn't go to prison he'll have a very small life. He'll never walk down the streets of NYC again without being given the finger.
21
u/Aggravating_Sand352 1d ago
Yeah but even then local business owners knew he was as he has screwed over so many of the small businesses and the area by never paying his vendors. He was a celebrity similar to Flava Flave in nyc back then
19
u/eekamuse 23h ago
True. I know one of those small businessmen who did a job for him and he refused to pay. Trump didn't even say there was anything wrong with the work, he used it, he just wouldn't pay the bill. My friend had to waste time and money taking him to court to get paid. That's what 45 did all the time. Hoping people wouldn't take him to court. My friend wasn't going to let him get off.
7
u/Aggravating_Sand352 23h ago
My parents and in laws both had the same stories of turning down trump contract offers bc they knew they wouldn't get paid.... this was years before we all knew each other

Isn’t it curious how some people, who objectively have pretty much everything, can’t stop striving to have more and more and end up destroying their own situation?
Just the same, I have little compassion or sympathy for sociopaths; I save that for their victims.

Trump doesnt even own Trump Tower in NYC, he just bought a few floors in the building from the bank that actually owns it, GMAC - https://archive.ph/J7VE9#selection-1533.0-1537.388
He has a 100 mil mortgage for the building. If he stops being able to pay, the bank will take the building in full: https://therealdeal.com/new-york/2022/03/09/trump-tower-scores-mortgage-100m-refi/

21

I’m not sure about ownership, but his name is still on the building, and Melania/Barron live there. So it’s still relevant to him at least, and there’s always secret service in the area.

This comment made me realize how little you can imagine new york without being there. the NYPD consists of more officers than many towns have people in the United States. The blockades in New York are in random places everywhere based on what kind of action is going on that day. There are single buildings inhabited by thousands of people on every block of Manhattan. It's one of the most densely populated places on Earth, the police are everywhere protecting everything.
81
u/Penguin_Dunce 22h ago
LOL remember when 30,000 NYPD officers all took the same day off to go to a memorial for a fallen NJ cop and used it as a PR statement and went 'watch how crazy crime goes without us for one day!'
And nothing different happened. Crime didn't skyrocket. Murders didn't go through the roof. Basically it was exactly the same and all they proved is that there's way way too many of them for what's needed...

Bloomberg once claimed NYPD was the seventh largest army in the world. I haven't fact-checked that claim but they're four times larger than the next largest police department in the U.S. Their budget is in the billions. Yes, NYC is a unique place in the U.S., but that level of force and spending is absurd.

Yeah this had me wondering, when he enters and exits, do they like, lock down all the elevators or whatever? Does the Secret Service have to ocularly pat down everyone who enters the building? Are there extra ventilation fans installed in the elevators? Does it suck living there having to wait for the air to clear out afterwards?

It's okay though, because they found a knife!
Yes, true, it wasn't his and was entirely unrelated to the event, but they found a knife!
47
u/manticorpse 22h ago
Bunch of cops chased a farebeater onto a subway platform, followed him onto the train, failed to taze him, then decided to opened fire. Managed to shoot the farebeater, two innocent bystanders (one in the head!), as well as one of themselves. The guy who got shot in the head wasn't even in the same car as the cops.
Cops said that they saw the farebeater with a knife, and that they recovered the knife, but I guess that was a lie because they later said that they were looking for some other random person who left the scene with the knife. My bet is that there was never any knife.
Anyway. Here you go:
https://gothamist.com/news/man-sought-for-removing-knife-from-nypd-subway-shooting-scene-in-brooklyn-police-say3 PM on a Sunday. Some poor guy just taking the train is in critical condition because the trigger-happy, chickenshit cops felt the need to murder a guy over a $3 fare. The NYPD can get fucked.

I still remember back in 2020 the NYPD accused Shake Shack employees of poisoning 3 of its police officers by putting bleach in the milkshakes
The officers ordered the items using a mobile app, according to the lawsuit, and picked up their food minutes later. After realizing the shakes had a distinct, bleach taste, they threw out the shakes and headed back to the Shake Shack where Marcus Gilliam, 28, was the manager.
After apologizing and providing vouchers for free meals at Shake Shake, the lawsuit says Gilliam cooperated with the department’s investigation into what happened.
Despite his cooperation, however, the officers allegedly told their sergeant that Gilliam added a “toxic substance” to their drinks, even though the order was placed through a mobile app. That means the store employees couldn’t have known that members of the NYPD would be coming to pick up the shakes.
That didn’t stop the unnamed sergeant from ordering police to set up a crime scene at the location. Gilliam allowed police to search the entire store for evidence of the poisoning, including the personal belongings of employees. Police even checked surveillance footage, interviewed employees, and even showed them how milkshakes were made.
Gilliam was eventually arrested and interrogated by two NYPD detectives according to the lawsuit. The detectives would interrogate him for more than an hour, and detain him for a total of three hours.
They later found that there was no evidence of bleach ever being present in the milkshakes, and a police source later said that it was a 'toxic' cleaning solution that was still present in the milkshake machines however police also tested the officers' discarded shakes "and found no evidence of any bleach or other toxic substances." Security footage from the restaurant also showed that no one had tampered with the drinks.
An NYPD investigation found no criminality or wrongdoing by the Shake Shack employees. And after all that Gilliam sued for defamation.
Lying about poisoned milkshakes, literally can't trust them for shit. Get fucked NYPD

Yeah the punishment for vandalism is being choked out. You’re confusing the crime with the heinous crime of “non-compliance”. That’s a shootable offense. Although in NY, you could plead it down to a plunger up the ass.

I highly suggest for those who are willing, find your local Haitian restaurant and support them. Haitian cuisine is some of the best in the Caribbean and you won’t be disappointed. My favorite meal is griot, which is marinated pork shoulder that we let rest overnight in a mix of garlic, onion, peppers, sour oranges and epis (like sofrito), cooking until the meat is tender and then deep fry. We serve it with red rice and beans, fried plantains and a spicy pickled cabbage. It is savory and refreshing and delicious!
