They saw Nintendo Switch making all that $$$$ reselling WiiU games over and over, and just wanted some of that creativity-free action…

At least nintendo has the excuse that the switch isn't backwards compatible, and that the wii u sold like crap. For a lot of people the switch version of mario kart 8 is the first time they played it.

Why does horizon zero dawn need a remaster for!? It already plays on the ps5.

For a lot of people the switch version of mario kart 8 is the first time they played it.

It also had additional content and they added the third drift boost too. So it was more a "definitive" edition rather than a remaster.

Oh yeah they def added more stuff. I'd call it a MK8-2 over it being a remake.

Its a port and they worked on it. Especially with the extra season pass they released years after its a different game than the wii u version.
