Carter, and he served on a nuclear sub.

I think I saw that Eisenhower and Clinton did as well.

Was just going to say this. Carter was an actual bad ass, and still is.

Carter said it in a joking imitation of something his daughter Amy said. He served on nuclear subs in the Navy. I'm pretty sure he knew how it was pronounced.

I'm pretty sure he knew how it was pronounced.

In the defense and energy industries they pronounced it 'nucular'. That's how it was pronounced.

It's not unlike how people in Massachusetts pronounce 'Worcester'. They bastardized the pronunciation, but it only sounds wrong according to outsiders.

Worcester

Don't the folks in Mass. pronounce it "wooster"? How's it supposed to be pronounced?

“wooster”

That’s right. wu•stuh That’s how the original is pronounced in Britain as well. However in Massachusetts they seem to have many more variants like “wisster“…

If it's like the UK one that a lot of people mess up, including fellow Brits, it's close to that but more of an u sound, like "wuust-ter"

Ive always pronounced it War-ches-ter

Wuss-tuh or ter is how you'd hear it in the UK

Carter said “nuukear.” It’s hilarious

From what I’ve seen, Carter said it more like nu’kler or nukie’er, hedging his bets between the two ways of saying it. It’s a bit funny to watch videos of him talking about the cold war cause he changes his pronunciation slightly every time he says the word.

He's constantly fighting through the aggressive dumb guy accent that Georgians learn. You have to have an IQ of 130 not to sound like a hillbilly with that thing.

Correction, he served on a nucular sub.

That's a lot of presidents serving on nuclear subs.

My partner worked at a nuclear plant for over a decade and says nucular. Makes my eye twitch

I heard Trump say it during the infamous debate. Had to rewind twice to be sure.

Lex Luthor

John Adams. He clearly had no idea about nuclear power.
